What is inside the Monumental Zone

The ticketed zone contains the landmarks everyone comes for: the mosaic dragon (El Drac), the long undulating bench on the Greek Theatre terrace, the Hypostyle Hall with 86 columns, and the two fairy-tale gatehouses at the main entrance on Carrer d'Olot.

Best time of day

  • 8:00-9:00 AM: soft morning light, few visitors, best for photos without crowds
  • 5:00-7:00 PM (summer): golden hour light on the mosaic bench, cooler temperatures
  • Avoid noon to 3 PM in summer: harsh light and no shade in the Monumental Zone

Tickets that sell out

The 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM slots go first. Book at least 5 days in advance in peak season. If your preferred slot is sold out, a guided tour often has availability when general entry does not.
